Temporary Departure of Goods

What goods can you take in addition to your luggage when leaving the country?

Outbound passengers may carry in addition to their luggage, handicrafts, jewelry, jewelry and any product manufactured in our country that by its quantity or condition can be presumed not to be for trade. In cases of regularization of custody vouchers or temporary income, if the passenger does not embark and his luggage, household goods or goods have been received by the international transportation company for departure or controlled embarkation, they cannot be returned without the prior authorization of the Customs Authority, who must arrange for their custody until their subsequent departure or embarkation.

What should you do to avoid paying taxes on goods or items that you take abroad and return with you upon your return to the country?

If you are traveling abroad with goods or items that were acquired in Peru (which must be identifiable and traceable) and that you will return with at the end of your trip, you must declare them to the customs authorities. This will allow you to bring them back into the country without having to pay taxes when you return. You can complete the declaration digitally through the "Bienvenido al Perú" app (available on Google Play or the App Store) and visit the customs office to make the declaration before going to the airline counter. It is recommended to complete this process well in advance.
